There seems to have been some confusion between information that was published on the Broxtowe Borough Council website as ‘background evidence’ and the Part 2 Local Plan itself. The OPUN Design Review document is not ‘the plan’ for the area, and is simply part of the evidence base that was used to inform the Part 2 Local Plan on which Broxtowe are now inviting comments.
OPUN are independent design experts who were tasked by Broxtowe Borough Council to review certain areas across the borough to give advice on key design considerations that should be taken into account when allocating sites for development. For Kimberley specifically the Design Review considered a much larger area than we are now proposing to allocate for development (in Policy 7.1 of the Part 2 Local Plan), and indeed Kettlebrook Lodge is not included within the proposed site allocation (which is shown on page 68 and 69 of the plan). There is no proposal from the Council to demolish it.
